Junior & Intermediate Chess

Yesterday the ACC had its second online chess tournament for 2020. This time it was for the junior and intermediate competition.

Once again the great staff at KidsUnlimited facilitated the tournament throughout the day. The KidsUnlimited platform allows students to login and play against each other via virtual chess boards. The system ran smoothly and seamlessly once again, allowing students to complete all their matchups along with adding to their ranking points.

We would like to congratulate Mazenod College for taking out the Division 1 Intermediate Title & Junior Title, also a big congratulations to Whitefriars College on winning the Intermediate Division 2 Title.

Some fun facts about the Junior and Intermediate chess tournament:
Mazenod have only lost twice in Intermediate Div 1 since 2003
Mazenod is undefeated in Junior Div 1
The Top 5 Mazenod players in each of these achieved perfect scores (undefeated)
Whitefriars back to back in Intermediate Div 2 Champions
St Bernard’s fantastic improvement in Junior competition, finishing 2nd ahead of two Mazenod teams after winning the Div 2 Jun competition last year.

Finally a huge thank you to the staff at KidsUnlimited and the staff and students from our participating Colleges.
