Herald Sun Shield Champions!!!

On Wednesday 3rd of August, the Herald Sun Shield Premier Schools Football Competition made its long awaited return (post COVID) at Box Hill City Oval.

The ACC had two representative schools in Parade College (Intermediate Competition) & Whitefriars College (Senior Competition).

Parade College defeated Brighton Grammar in the semi final a week earlier, 13.11.89 to 1.4.10, whilst  Whitefriars defeated Christian College Geelong 20.12.132 to 0.0.0 in the Senior semi final.

Our schools met St Patrick’s College Ballarat, a school football powerhouse, in the Intermediate and Senior grand finals. Even though St Patrick’s resumed its membership of the ACC in 2022, it competes in weekly sport in the Ballarat Associated Schools (BAS) competition.

The results were:
Intermediate GF – Parade 5.17.47 def by St Patrick’s 7.9.51
Senior GF – Whitefriars 4.4.28 def St Patrick’s 2.9.21

It was fantastic to have both schools represent their school community and the ACC with great pride and respect. We would like to thank Parade for their resilience and effort on the day and wish them all the very best entering senior football in 2023.

We would like to congratulate Whitefriars on a fantastic win in a nail-biting finish. Whitefriars Captain, Lochie Reidy, was named best-on-ground in the game.

Whitefriars has continued the streak of wins for ACC schools in the senior competition, which now sits at 5 in a row.

ACC senior football is set for a big change in 2023, with St Patrick’s College to compete with their 1st XVIII team in our competition, rather than BAS. St Patrick’s involvement will significantly strengthen our competition and help build upon our already formidable reputation as one of Victoria’s premier school football competitions.
