There are three sporting championships that take place each year as part of the ACC program.
The swimming championship is held at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC) in Albert Park. usually on the third Friday in February (dependent upon dates). The event program for 2020 will be held on Thursday February 27th, from 5-9pm in the outdoor competition pool. This event is used as a qualifying meet to select the team to represent the ACC at the Victorian Schools Swimming Championship in May ( https://vic.swimming.org.au/events/victorian-school-associations-competition)
The athletics championship takes place at the new home of track & field in Melbourne – Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park. The athletics carnival is usually held in the last week of March each year. The program runs from 10am through to 4:30pm.
Bundoora Park is the home of the ACC cross country event which is held in mid September each year. The younger age groups (U/13 – U/15) compete over a 3km course, whilst the older age groups (U/16 – Senior) compete over 5kms. Each age group runs separately, although both divisions run at the same time with points distributed accordingly. Races commence at 10:45am and are usually completed by 2pm.
There is a promotion and relegation system in place for all three of our carnival sports. The school finishing in last place in Division 1 is relegated for the following year in that event, whilst the team finishing in first place in Division 2 is promoted to Division 1 for that event for the following year. The promotion and relegation system for athletics and swimming is automatically applied, whereas for the cross country it will only apply if the aggregate results of the two relevant schools warrant a change.
Our athletics event is overseen by officials from Athletics Victoria. The swimming event is overseen by officials from Swimming Victoria.
