71 students from Years 7 to 10 greeted the starter at the Werribee Park Golf Club for the ACC Junior Golf Tournament under fine and windless skies last Friday.
The day presented as a great opportunity for many beginners to learn the finer points of the sport under competition conditions whilst some of the more experienced golfers thrived in near perfect conditions that the golf course presented.
Each school had the opportunity to enter eight students with the best four scores counting toward the overall team tally.
De La Salle proved to be the champion school of the day, taking out the Division One title from 2014 champions, St Bernards. The standout was Ben Paine who shot an even par round of 72 including three birdies. Ben was ably supported by teammates Oliver Smith and Krisoff Soliven who also shot in the 70’s.
Division Two was comfortably taken out by St Joseph’s Geelong from second placed Salesian. Aaron Grose posted the best score in Division Two with a very respectably round of 79.
The ACC are most grateful for the continued support of the Werribee Park Golf Club management and staff to allow us to stage the Junior Tournament on a beautifully presented course and to have use of their clubhouse facilities for lunch and presentations.
