Sport Update

Congratulations to Matthew Hussey of Emmanuel College who has been selected to represent Victoria in the Team Vic cross country team competing in Canberra  August 19th-22nd. Matthew has been shown a lot of promise over recent years, posting great times in the ACC cross country and athletics championships. Well done to Matthew and best wishes for a successful event.

In other news, former Whitefriars student, Ben Simmons, was selected at Pick 1 in today’s NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. Ben attended Whitefriars in Year 7 & 8 before heading to Box Hill to take part in their specialised basketball program. During his time at Whitefriars, Ben represented the school proudly in various sports, achieving particular success in ACC basketball. Congratulations to Ben and the staff of Whitefriars for their contribution throughout his development years. We wish him a long and successful career ahead, as he joins some elite Australians to have played in the NBA: Andrew Bogut, Andrew Gaze, Dante Exum, Kyrie Irving, Luc Longley and Patty Mills amongst others.
