HISTORY IN THE MAKING
Eight schools helped create a unique part of ACC history recently, when the first ever Open Badminton championship was held at MSAC. It was a terrific day for all players involved - the competition was intense, but the matches were played with great spirit and friendly rivalry. For full details, see the recent news item.
DIV 1 GOLF CHAMPIONS
The De La golf team made it three championship wins from four years when they won the Open Golf tournament at Northern Golf Club recently. The team recorded an impressive overall score of 474, ahead of St. Bernard's in second place on 483, with St. Bede's (494), Parade (514) and Whitefriars (538) making up the remaining places.
DIV 2 GOLF CHAMPIONS
Emmanuel College recorded their first open golf championship win since 2007 at the recent ACC tournament at Northern Golf Club. Their captain, Chris John, scored an impressive 73 to lead the team to victory, finishing strongly ahead of Mazenod, Salesian and CBC St. Kilda. This win promotes Emmanuel into Division 1 for next year's event.
WHITEFRIARS CHAMPS
The Junior Badminton Championship was held recently, with the Years 7 & 8 team from Whitefriars College completing a straight sets victory to take out the inaugural title. Congratulations to the Whitefriars team on an outstanding win against top quality opposition.
SHIELD LAUNCH
Trent Cotchin, captain of Richmond Football Club and former student of Parade College, helped to officially launch the 2013 Herald Sun Shield competition at the MCG on May 15th. Five of our Div 1 football schools had representatives in attendance who enjoyed a photo with the Tiger champion on the hallowed turf of "The G".
